| Customer Reviews: Smells Like Soured Slop!!! August 6, 2010 Tom Anderson (Piney Flats, Tennessee United States) I have tried for years to find a pure evergreen-scented lotion (unmixed with other scents), but apparently this is too much to ask for. So far I have tried Sweet Grass Farm's Farmhouse Holiday Greenery Shea Butter Lotion, Williams-Sonoma Winter Forest Hand Lotion, Turtle Bay Emporium Body Lotion, and years ago Suave Evergreen Garland Body Lotion (which surprisingly had the best scent of all, but the fragrance faded quickly). None of these smelled like a Christmas tree, mostly because they were mixed with other scents--particularly cedar.
Having read rave reviews of Thymes' Frasier Fir fragrance all over the internet, I figured I had finally found what I'd been looking for. However, this stuff is the worst of the lot! You have to concentrate hard to pick out any evergreen notes at all since this lotion's fragrance is overpoweringly just plain SOUR, courtesy of the cedar and sandalwood. I am shocked from reading the other reviews that people actually think this stuff smells pleasant, much less like an evergreen tree!
If anyone out there knows of a realistic-smelling evergreen lotion, please let me know by clicking on the comments link. In the meantime, I will be pushing for lotions from The Soap and Paper Factory (their Roland Pine fragrance is the real deal) and Yankee Candle, whose Christmas Wreath fragrance all but nails that Christmas tree smell.
Excellent fragrance, all year 'round. August 5, 2009 Auliya (Austin, TX USA) Thymes is definitely one of my favorite lotion brands for its quality of scent! I really do recommend this scent and also Thymes Olive Leaf, which is a more subtle fragrance. The quality of the lotion itself can sometimes feel a little too thick, so use sparingly. The fragrance is great. I don't use lotion heavily, so I've had my bottle of Frasier Fir for about a year, and I can tell you it's a warm and merry scent during the Christmas season, and, perhaps surprisingly, it is a crisp and refreshing fragrance in the height of summer. As scents go, it is more of a cologne than a perfume, and I believe very suitable for men.
