bad at first June 11, 2010 EFiz I smelled this in Sephora, loved how it smelled on paper, and sprayed it onto my wrist. It smelled beautiful at first, then quickly dried down to a chocolate-like smell, but then I began to notice a strange cloying smell. I think others have attributed this to the "ginger" note but I smelled something else. Suddenly it hit me that it smells like ant poison. Do you know that sickly sweet cloying smell when you stir Grant's Ants poison with hot water to get it ready for the ants to attack? Same smell. The dry-down smell is beautiful but I think the vanilla/sandalwood base is the same drydown smell for other perfumes. I love other Tocca scents but despite its beautiful name, marketing, and supposed ingredients, this perfume did not work for me.
The Beautiful, Sexy Essense of a Woman March 20, 2010 Sandra Bishop (FLAGSTAFF, AZ, US) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I loooooooove this perfume. I have been wearing Coco Chanel Mademoiselle for YEARS and have NEVER found a perfume that I LOVE....at least enough to buy...I always come back to Mademoiselle. But, the moment I smelled this perfume I was in love. I actually left it on the shelf at first but I just had to come back to buy it I loved it so much. It's slightly musky but with a fresh, floral scent too. It's not fruity, "baby-prostitute" or "college dorm room" smelling...this is a WOMAN'S fragrance. The men in my life are going crazy over this perfume...it sucks them right in!! It truly is intoxicating.
Tocca Tara candle - love! February 3, 2010 T. McNulty (San Francisco, CA) My name is Tara so this is of course, a natural love for me. But I ALSO love the smell, it is my second one. Makes my whole house smell like floral springtime delight :-)
Smells Even Better After The day goes on! March 16, 2009 Stephanie Timiney My husband HATES almost every perfume. 9 years of marriage and this is the first perfume he has liked. It has a sweet fresh delicate scent that gets even better as the day wears on. It's got a hint of floral to it that is not so "granny" as a lot of perfumes end up being. Tocca Bridget is also awesome!
Great perfume, beautiful bottle - playful fragrance March 16, 2009 Alex Smart (Sunnyvale, CA) I love this perfume.
Amazon is the only place that had it a bit less expensive - no tax and free shipping got me to 66$ (it's 68 everywhere on the web and in stores). Way to go, Amazon!
I've discovered it in Sephora - got curious about the vintage bottle which features each of the Tocca perfumes.
I like all of them, but Stella is special.
Every time I smell it, I feel like being a little girl with ponytails in a princess dress that runs and climbs the trees.
I call it "playful fragrance".
I was undecided between Tocca's Stella and Florence, but chose Stella for the playfulness and originality. Still, I'm planning to pick up Florence, as well. My other favourite perfumes are: Angel of Thierry Mugler, Alien, L de Lolita Lempicka, Cashmere Mist, Clinique Happy, Euphoria and Obsession night from CK, Stella by Stella McCartney, Eau d'Adrien of Annick Goutal; if you also like these, you might like Stella, too.
It's not quite a fresh perfume, though it's not overwhelmingly sweet. The citrus notes are pretty strong in the beginning and they fade in a harmony of delicate, somewhat floral notes.
I read somewhere that it smells similar to Britney Spears "Curious". They do seem a bit similar after the first 30 minutes or so. But Curious reminds me of tea, there's no depth in that perfume, it's not that long lasting and it doesn't wrap my arm with the smell the way Stella does.
Highly recommended to those who want more than a regular mass perfume, like an "office perfume" or "nightwear perfume". Stella is special and deserves the price.
